Class Expectations!!!
Biology CP1, CP2, and Honors
Welcome students! We have an exciting year full of science ahead of us. Please keep this in your binder as your reference guide for the school year.
My lab day is: Tuesday in room: B-235
Supplies needed everyday:
· Folder and notebook or binder
· Pens and #2 pencils
· Homework due that day (at the beginning of the class only)
· Agenda Book to record homework
· Ear buds and a CHARGED chromebook
· Rulers, calculator, scissors, highlighters, and colored pencils (optional)
DON'T FORGET A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
I will let you know, in advance, if any additional supplies are needed.
Expectations:
In order to be successful in my class, I expect you to be:
· on time everyday (in your seat when the bell rings)
· ready to work (and to participate in class…..no sleeping!)
· prepared for class (homework, notebook, pens/pencils, etc.)
· respectful of yourself and others (this includes school property like the classroom desks and books, as well as conduct in the class towards me and other students) all school rules are expected to be followed (please refer to the student handbook)
· responsible for your own actions (doing your OWN homework/papers/quizzes/exams - avoid plagiarism, getting missed assignments for absences, makeup tests/quizzes, following school rules and lab safety procedures – be safe!)
All school rules apply in my classroom.....
I will be in A-307 on Wednesdays, or by appointment, for extra help, make-up work, detention, etc. If you are absent, I expect you to make up your tests and quizzes on the day that you return. You have 10 school days to make up your missed work. Please get the assignments online, or from your peers, or come see me after school, NOT during class time.
Grading:
1. Exams/Lab Reports/Projects are worth 50%. (Midterm/Final separate 20% - Q2 and 4)
2. Quizzes are worth 10%.
3. Homework is worth 10%. (Homework Club!!!!)
4. Class work is worth 10%.
5. Completed notebook/binder is worth 10% combined. (Q1 and 3)
6. Class participation AND behavior are worth 10% combined. (Q1 and 3) The more you participate in class discussions and activities, and the better behaved you are, the more points you get! (Sent to your dean = 0)
7. Extra credit assignments may be offered from time to time. This could make the difference between a B+ and an A-. Take advantage of them if your regular work is complete!
If you have any questions on assignments, rules/policies, grading, etc., please do not hesitate to contact me, make an appointment with me or see me after school. As a resident of Peabody, a parent, and a graduate of PVMHS, it is my job as your teacher to help you to succeed. You need to do your own work and make an effort, but please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. I look forward to our year together!
Sincerely,
Ms. Ceruolo
